– On 5 September, during a patrol of Płóczki Górne, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski noticed a man on a moped who, upon seeing them, suddenly set off. The officers decided to find out what had caused his nervous behaviour – reports Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the Lwówek KPP.
She adds:
Despite the visual and audible signals being given, the rider failed to stop for inspection. The officers began a pursuit.
At one point, the fugitive rode into mud, so he abandoned the moped and began fleeing on foot. Unsuccessfully—he was apprehended.
Why did the 18-year-old flee? It turned out that he did not have a licence to drive. What is more, the two-wheeler itself was not roadworthy and did not have valid insurance.
The teenager now faces a sentence of between three months and as much as five years in prison.
