There was no surprise in Saturday’s match at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street in Bolesławiec. The favourite won, although the match was made more intriguing by the fact that the playing manager of the newcomers from Węgliniec is former long-time BKS player Paweł Rissmann.
It is also no secret that both Górnik’s manager and the club’s players very much wanted to cause a surprise on Spółdzielcza Street. However, they were unsuccessful. In footballing terms, the Bolesławiec team was simply better in every aspect and imposed its style of play from the start.
The visitors successfully repelled the hosts’ attacks until the 20th minute. It was then that a shot by Kamil Posadowski opened the scoring. A quarter of an hour later, the same player made it 2–0. Before the first half ended, Górnik’s players had numerous complaints about the referee. In their view, Dawid Hadryś had been fouled in the BKS penalty area. However, neither the referee nor the assistant referee signalled an offence in that situation. Both teams went into the interval with the hosts leading 2–0.
After the change of ends, in the 50th minute, Jacek Bochnia got on the scoresheet to make it 3–0. The same player then increased BKS’s lead to 4–0. Towards the end of the match, a goal by Dorian Latała to make it 1–4 gave Górnik hope. And when the referee awarded Węgliniec a penalty moments later, it seemed that the deficit would be reduced and Górnik would fight for another goal. However, that did not happen. Manager Paweł Rissmann stepped up and sent the ball over the crossbar of the goal guarded by Jakub Walczak. The old football saying goes that missed chances come back to haunt you, and that was the case this time too. In the 90th minute, Marcin Kraśnicki set the final score at 5–1 for BKS.
