Inflation and ever-higher prices of basic groceries are an everyday reality increasingly affecting more of us. Just think of how many products we could buy at a grocery store for PLN 100 a few years ago, compared with how many we can buy today for the same amount.
The industry portal dlahandlu.pl analyzes, among other things, price movements in stores. An article published on August 23 presented the cost of a basket containing 50 basic grocery products. In August 2019, we paid as much as PLN 50 less in stores for the same basket of products than we did in August 2021. Purchases made in hypermarkets were compared, where prices are usually lower than at other retail outlets.
The dlahandlu.pl portal stated:
(...) A price of PLN 300 for a hypermarket basket is becoming the market standard, while just two years ago prices started at PLN 226, and average spending on a basket of 50 products hovered around PLN 250–260.
