The incident occurred on Friday, at around 4:00 p.m., on national road no. 94 between Legnica and Chojnów. “Officers dispatched to the scene determined that the driver of a Fiat, having failed to adjust his speed to the conditions, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the driver of a Volkswagen, who was driving correctly. The perpetrator, disregarding the consequences, left the scene without providing assistance to the injured,” reports junior warrant officer Przemysław Ratajczyk from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

Having searched the nearby area, police officers from Chojnów detained the extremely irresponsible resident of Legnica County. The spokesperson said: “The 28-year-old was tested for alcohol content in his system and recorded 1.7 per mille.”

The man was taken into police custody, while the injured parties received specialist medical assistance. The officers said:

We appeal to drivers not to get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or substances with a similar effect under any circumstances. There is no amount of alcohol after which we can safely travel on the roads. Let us react every time we see someone who has been drinking alcohol and then attempts to get into a car and drive away. Let us look after one another’s safety, because human life is the most precious value.
