– Last Saturday, a Legnica officer was celebrating his 50th birthday with his closest relatives. When he blew out the candles on the cake, a loud bang rang out. Without hesitation, he left the apartment to see what had caused it, reports Asp. Staff Monika Kaleta from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – Looking around, he noticed on the opposite side of the road a car that had hit a streetlamp, and inside the vehicle he saw the driver, who was fortunately unsuccessfully trying to start the wrecked car.Monika Kaleta

Aspirant Piotr Brzostowiecki had also worked in the traffic division, so he was fully aware of the danger and the need for immediate assistance. Without hesitation, he asked his brother for support, and together they ran over to the driver.
As it turned out, the person responsible for the collision was a 69-year-old resident of Legnica who was completely drunk. The birthday celebrant efficiently took his keys and prevented him from escaping.
The drunk driver was handed over to the traffic police. It emerged that the 69-year-old had been driving with more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. He could now face up to two years behind bars.
