To the County Police Headquarters in Lubin reported a 47-year-old man who lost more than PLN 10,000 after offering hockey skates for sale via the OLX platform. – The victim received information from a person interested in buying them that the order had been placed and a link to log in to the bank's website had been sent to his e-mail. The man provided his online banking login details – reports asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the Lubin KPP. – In this way, the criminal made four unauthorized money-withdrawal transactions amounting to more than PLN 10,000.

Unfortunately, this is not the only victim of this type of fraud. Fortunately, some people realized that they were dealing with criminals and were not deceived.

The officers remind us:

REMINDER!

Under the pretext of buying a given product, criminals send the seller a link via WhatsApp that redirects them to a website deceptively resembling a classified-advertisement portal. The attached link comes with instructions on how to collect money from the alleged buyer. Unaware of the danger, the victim provides the fraudsters with debit or credit card details or bank-account information.

They add:

Let us remember! Links sent by fraudsters look deceptively similar to real websites. We should verify websites and the links to them every time we use them. Let us not open links from strangers and, most importantly, let us never provide our online banking login details or payment-card information. This way, we will protect ourselves from losing all our savings.
