The opening ceremony was attended, among others, by Marshal Cezary Przybylski, director of the Lower Silesian Roads and Railways Service Leszek Loch, Deputy Chair of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Assembly Andrzej Kredkowski and regional councillor Teresa Zembik. “The presence of so many representatives of different local governments shows how important the investment we are opening today is. The new bridge will certainly improve the safety of residents and road users. The pace of the work was impressive. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the rapid completion of this investment. This is an extremely important project for residents of the surrounding counties,” said C. Przybylski.

The more than 90-year-old bridge required reconstruction because of its poor technical condition. In July last year, the severely damaged structure was closed. During the renovation, drivers and pedestrians could use a temporary bridge, which was built to maintain traffic on provincial road no. 364.

“It turned out that renovating the bridge would not be enough to bring it to the technical standard appropriate for a provincial road. After carefully analyzing various options, we decided to demolish the old structure and build a new one whose parameters would be suited to the nature and volume of traffic on the roads under our administration,” explained L. Loch.

As part of the project, a new concrete structure more than 35 meters long was built in place of the old bridge, with a 7-meter-wide asphalt roadway and widened pedestrian sidewalks measuring 2 meters. The renovation work proceeded at an express pace. The investment was scheduled to be completed in December 2021, but the reconstruction was completed 4.5 months ahead of schedule.

“As a resident of Lwówek and a regional councillor, I strongly advocated for this investment. A year ago, the construction supervision authority ordered the old bridge to be closed. Fortunately, following my interventions with government institutions and the decision of sanitary inspectorate chief Jacek Klakočar, a replacement bridge was built very quickly. Today, in place of the nearly century-old bridge, we have a modern structure that will improve residents’ safety and travel comfort. I am pleased that, thanks to the contractors’ efficient work, the investment was completed ahead of schedule,” added A. Kredkowski.
