Voices have appeared online claiming that traffic chaos has broken out in the center of Bolesławiec—or, to be precise, on Mickiewicza and Sierpnia ’80 streets. Signs reading “Traffic Organization Change” and prohibitions have appeared there, among other things.
As we were told at City Hall, the whole situation is connected with the fact that the office has to paint parking-space lines along the aforementioned streets.
Why was it dealt with this way?
The reason is prosaic. As City Hall officials explain, there is often a problem with car owners who, despite being informed in advance that a change—or renewal—of the signage was necessary, did not remove their vehicles from the area. (One car is still parked on Sierpnia ’80, causing a problem because its owner... has left town.) That is why the streets were closed.

How long will it last?
Everything should essentially return to normal on Friday afternoon. Both aforementioned streets will be reopened. However, there will be an important change.
What will the change in traffic organization involve?
Traffic organization will be reversed. Both Mickiewicza and Sierpnia ’80 will remain one-way streets, but traffic will move in the opposite direction from before. In this way, the city authorities are responding to the expectations of some Mickiewicza residents, who reported to officials that drivers traveling downhill from Sierpnia ’80 pick up excessive speed. Now, drivers traveling uphill from Mickiewicza will have to slow down already at the intersection with Sierpnia ’80.
What is the reason for the change in traffic organization?
As istotne.pl was told by Iwona Mandżuk-Dudek, deputy mayor of Bolesławiec, the aim is to open up the city from the northern side, that is, from the direction of the railway station.
