– Last Saturday was not a peaceful one. In just one day, Wrocław police officers carried out nearly 440 interventions. One of them involved officers from the Traffic Division and the Division for Combating Economic Crime working together – reports junior officer Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – Their activities focused on preventing illegal waste transportation. Thanks to their previous work, they knew that a vehicle probably transporting an illegal load was travelling along one of the roads.

Police stopped a tractor-trailer for inspection. They carefully checked the documents of both the driver of the vehicle combination and the truck and trailer. They also inspected the transport documentation and the load being transported. Spokesperson:

And it was precisely the load that aroused the suspicions of the officers. According to the documents, the trailer was supposed to contain biomass. The officers noticed that it also contained other waste. They therefore called employees of the Provincial Inspectorate for Environmental Protection to the scene to check whether the load matched the description in the documentation.

The inspectors confirmed the Wrocław officers’ suspicions and classified the transported load as other waste. The rubbish was sent to a specialist company dealing with its deactivation.

The result? The dishonest carrier was fined a total of more than PLN 20,000.
