On Wednesday, 21 July, firefighters from Bolesławiec (3 units), from Nowogrodziec and Osiecznica were dispatched to Modłowa Street in the City of Ceramics. The goal? An exercise of the National Rescue and Firefighting System called “Railway”.
Firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
The scenarios for State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Service units were as follows:
- The first involved a fire in a tanker carrying diesel fuel and several injured people. Compressed foam was directed at the burning tanker, while two streams of water were used defensively to protect another tanker and a locomotive; at the same time, assistance was provided to the injured.
- The second scenario involved searching a smoke-filled passenger train. There were also role-players here. Our task was to find the people [...], then provide qualified first aid while practicing medical procedures.
The uniformed personnel add:
The exercise was overseen by the command staff of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, representatives of Koleje Dolnośląskie and Polskie Linie Kolejowe. All the planned objectives were achieved, and conclusions will be drawn from the exercise.
