On Friday (January 29), two clubs from Bolesławiec, MKS Bolesłavia and UKS Ilyo, officially brought the sports season to a close. The gala took place in the auditorium of Municipal School Complex No. 2. In addition to athletes from both clubs, the ceremony was attended by the athletes’ parents and friends, coaches, representatives of the city authorities, and the Training Manager of the Lower Silesian Sports Federation – Paweł Olszański.
We have written many times on the portal about the numerous achievements of MKS Bolesłavia’s athletes. Bolesłavia’s athletes successfully competed in events at home and abroad. It is worth recalling that in 2009 the athletes scored 113.5 points. The top scorers were: Karolina Kędzia (15), Jacek Nabożny (12.5), Marcin Zgodziński (7.25), Mateusz Janik (7), Patryk Pieczarka (6.25), Katarzyna Romaszko (6), Aneta Bujak (5), and Adrian Skrzypacz (5).
UKS Ilyo, a Bolesławiec club specializing in Olympic taekwondo, accumulated 115 points last year. The club’s athletes also achieve success in national competitions and abroad. The most decorated were: Krzysztof Jasiński (his greatest success was first place at the Polish Junior Championships), Kamil Serafin (first place at the National Youth Olympics and the Croatian Open), Justyna Szyposz (second place at the Berlin Open), Grzegorz Kozioł (first place at the Sponsor Cup), Adam Filipek (first place at the Warsaw CUP and the Sponsor Cup), Yevgen Nikitin (first place at the Berlin Open), Paulina Stojanowska (first place at the Berlin Open), Klaudia Faltyn (third place at the Inter-Voivodeship Cadet Championships), and Marcin Skiba (third place at the Inter-Voivodeship Cadet Championships).
Athletics Orlik
The construction of an athletics Orlik facility in our city was also discussed during Friday’s ceremony. The city responded positively to the project. The Orlik is to be built on the site of the existing stadium on Spółdzielcza Street. The plans include, among other things, constructing a new six-lane track and leveling the playing field (the plans to build the athletics Orlik can be read here). Officials are currently compiling documents and corresponding with the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. Vice President Maciej Małkowski, who was present at the ceremony, also declared his support for the project.
