Officers from the District Officers’ Unit of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec arrested a man who kept his former cohabiting partner confined in an apartment. – The 44-year-old resident of Bolesławiec is well known to the district officers because he had previously been convicted of abusing the victim and, in March 2021, received a court order prohibiting him from approaching the woman – reports junior inspector Wojciech Jabłoński from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

He adds:

Since May 27 this year, the suspect repeatedly violated the order prohibiting him from approaching and contacting his former cohabiting partner by coming to her apartment, starting arguments and sending various text messages. Moreover, on July 3, he deprived the woman of her liberty by locking her in her home and threatened to assault her.

After receiving information that the 44-year-old might be holding the woman captive, the district officers immediately took action both to ensure the victim’s safety and arrest the perpetrator, and to establish the circumstances in which the woman was deprived of her liberty.

The court remanded the aggressor in temporary custody for two months. He may face a sentence of between three months and as much as five years in prison.
