On July 8, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers from the Szklarska Poręba police station were notified that cries for help could be heard near the Złoty Widok lookout point in Szklarska Poręba.

– The officers set off toward the lookout point, which was very difficult to reach—the route was steep and muddy. At the scene, they noticed a man lying among the trees and calling for help – reports podinspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra. – The injured man told them that the accident occurred when he slipped at the lookout point and fell several metres down.

The man was alone; he had come to hike in the mountains. The 21-year-old resident of Lubań County broke his leg as a result of the fall. The officers provided the injured man with first aid and looked after him until GOPR rescuers arrived, then jointly transported him to the top of the lookout point.

The injured man was taken to hospital. The spokesperson said:

Difficult weather conditions prevailed during the rescue operation: a storm was raging, heavy rain was falling, and streams of water were pouring down from the slopes. Fortunately, the man was able to receive help.
