– As a result of an investigation conducted since 2017 by officers of the Lower Silesian KAS and Police officers from Radom, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław, 92 people were arrested in November 2019 and property worth PLN 12 million was secured – reports Sebastian Polański from the Tax Administration Chamber in Wrocław. – In recent days, six more people have been arrested and property worth PLN 1.5 million has been secured. Since the beginning of the investigation, property worth PLN 23 million has been secured.
The details of nearly 1,000 entities that purchased fictitious invoices online have been established. The losses to the State Treasury were estimated at approximately PLN 20 million. The scheme was detected thanks to an analysis of data from JPK_VAT files. The perpetrators used the tax identification numbers (NIP) of legally operating entities and issued fictitious invoices using their details.
Almost all suspects admitted to committing the alleged criminal and tax offenses. Most of them have already filed corrections to their tax returns and paid the tax due.
