The incident occurred on Thursday, July 1, in the evening. A reader informed us:

At Biedronka, a man tried to rob customers using a card reader. One of the customers realized what was happening and tried to stop him. A fight broke out between them.

A security company was called and quickly subdued the suspect. The man was subsequently arrested by the police.

It turned out that the Bolesławiec resident had tried to use at Biedronka a payment terminal he had taken earlier that same day, around noon, from one of the catering companies in Bolesławiec. His entire evening plan ended in failure. As the police report, the 37-year-old did not manage to steal anything.

He will now be held responsible for misappropriating the terminal. (The manager of Biedronka announced that she would not pursue claims against the arrested man.)

The man faces up to three years in prison.

The stolen terminal was returned to the company from which it had been taken. Unfortunately, it is damaged (incomplete) and non-functional.

Let us clarify that even if the man had read someone's card, he would not have obtained any money, because the funds are credited to the account of the person or company in whose name the terminal is registered, not to the account of the person using it at that moment.

(The man was subdued by Jarexs.)
