As reported by the “Z Szarym Za Płotem” Association:
After several months, the autopsy results are available, in which the expert stated:
- Quote: “It can certainly be stated here that the wolf was shot, which is also confirmed by the ballistics specialist who participated in the autopsy.”
- “A complete absence of internal organs and part of the sternum. The expert does not rule out animals, but considers this unlikely and does not rule out deliberate human action.”
- Extensive internal injuries that could not be specified further due to the absence of internal organs.
The Association on the expert’s conclusions
It adds:
Unfortunately, the advanced decomposition of the body, the inability to determine the exact day of the shooting, and the lack of evidence in the form of a bullet resulted in the case being discontinued.
We do not know whether this is the end of the matter, but we would like to thank everyone who supported us and advised us on what else could be done.
Let us recall. In February, Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec reported:
On the previous Saturday, 4 February 2021, we received information from a hunter about a dead wolf lying 150 metres from national road 94 in the Brzeźnik forest district.
After the location was indicated and an initial inspection was carried out, it was determined that this was a road accident. It was established that the animal was an approximately four-year-old female, which had probably raised cubs the previous year. The animal’s body had already been partially eaten from the chest side. The death was initially estimated to have occurred around 20 January 2021.
The foresters added at the time:
After 4 p.m. that same day, one of the employees went to the site to prepare detailed photographic documentation, following the instructions of Stowarzyszenie dla Natury Wilk, in order to submit the information to RDOŚ.
While taking the final photographs, an approximately 2 cm entry wound was discovered in the body at the level of the left side of the neck. We immediately reported the matter to the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. Police officers from the KPP carried out an on-site inspection at the place where the wolf was found that same day.
The wolf was taken to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Bolesławiec and was then to be transported to the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław for an autopsy.
