“This is what happened to a 56-year-old woman from Lubin, who was correctly riding her bicycle along the cycle path on Paderewskiego Street. The woman was heading towards Wrocławski Park, riding down a slight decline,” informs aspirant Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “The woman noticed two cyclists approaching from the opposite direction, riding side by side. Seeing the danger, she used her bell three times, wanting to draw their attention so that the rider would move to the correct side.

However, this did not happen. In order to avoid a collision with another cyclist, the injured woman had to brake sharply. The result? She locked the front wheel, lost control of the bicycle and fell, suffering fractures to both arms and abrasions to the skin on her face.

The other participant in the incident provided the injured woman with initial assistance and then… left the scene. The 56-year-old was taken to hospital.

Investigators are now determining the circumstances of the accident. It is known that the woman was sober.
