Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received a report at night about a break-in at an apartment under renovation. “When the neighborhood officers arrived at the crime scene, the perpetrator was gone, but there were traces he had left behind, including shoeprints. The thief had already prepared the items he intended to steal,” reports asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer for the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters.
She adds:
The officers’ good knowledge of the area enabled them to identify a suspect, while immediate cooperation with the operations patrol led to the man’s swift arrest.
Police determined that the burglar had escaped across the roof. They therefore checked the rear of the building and arrested the perpetrator, who was trying to escape through another exit.
Officers found items belonging to the victim on the 22-year-old, confirming that the arrested man had been at the crime scene.
The officers said: “During the proceedings, it turned out that this was not the suspect’s first criminal visit to the apartment under renovation. Earlier, the suspect had committed burglary, stealing power tools. Two days later, he returned to the crime scene for more valuable items.”
The 22-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County now faces between one and as many as ten years in prison.
