Attention! A new settlement system on the Polish photovoltaic market

The proposed new settlement system will bring many changes to the Polish photovoltaic market. From 2022, prosumers (a prosumer is a person who simultaneously consumes and produces electricity using renewable energy sources) will not be able to use the net-metering discount system, and for every 1 kWh fed into the grid they will be able to take back 0.8 kWh.

From next year, prosumers will only be able to sell their surplus energy. Energy will be sold at the average price on the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) market, published quarterly by the Energy Regulatory Office. However, energy suppliers or aggregators (companies that recruit businesses able to shift or reduce part of their electricity demand) will have the right to offer better pricing terms.

All customers who decide to install a PV system by the end of 2021 will retain their right to settle accounts under the 1 kWh/0.8 kWh net-metering rules.
