As early as last year, city hall officials approved the quality of work on the construction of roads in the estate of social housing buildings on Kościuszki Street. The first stage of the investment (construction of part of the stormwater drainage system) was completed in the first half of 2009 and cost more than PLN 950,000.
In the next stage, asphalt roads were built (with a total area of more than 4,600 sq m), along with approaches to the buildings, pavements, concrete-block parking areas and nearly 480 m of stormwater drainage. This stage cost nearly PLN 1.5 million.
Construction of two sections of road (with drainage and lighting) and a retaining wall on Śluzowa Street has also been completed. The city budget allocated PLN 700,000 for this purpose.
A sanitary and storage facility for the nearby sports field was built on Graniczna Street in Bolesławiec. The building contains changing rooms for athletes, sanitary facilities and equipment storage. Its usable area is more than 88 sq m. The building is adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. The work cost PLN 330,000.
Pavements on Gałczyńskiego and Jana Pawła II streets in Bolesławiec have also been renovated. The work included, among other things, removing the damaged surfaces and laying new concrete-block paving, installing new edging and curbs, partial road repairs and installing posts next to the MZK stop. In addition, the surface of the parking area by the “Bolesławianka” Housing Cooperative was replaced, and the area near the retail pavilion was hardened, creating eight parking spaces. The investment cost more than PLN 456,000.
A combined sewer system was built on the section from Kubika Street to Zgorzelecka Street, including a new 367-metre-long sewer. The investment is intended to prevent sewer manholes from overflowing and buildings on Kubika Street from flooding; such situations occurred during heavy rainfall. See the report: Bolesławiec residents on Kubika Street seek compensation. The value of the project is approximately PLN 1.6 million. The next stage of the work will involve restoring the road surface and renovating the pavements on Mała and Piaskowa streets. The work is scheduled to begin on January 26 this year.
A new water supply network was also built on Starzyńskiego Street, with more than 690 m of water pipeline constructed. The investment cost more than PLN 430,000.
The Municipal Housing Management Authority in Bolesławiec has completed renovations of four apartments at 18 Warszawska Street, which had previously been damaged by fire. The work included, among other things, replacing the fire-damaged ceiling, window and door joinery, and water, sewage and electrical systems. The roof was covered with new tiles. The tiled stoves in the apartments were rebuilt, floors were repaired, new plaster and skim coats were applied, and bathrooms and toilets were installed. The renovation cost more than PLN 167,000.
The Municipal Housing Management Authority also modernized the facilities around the buildings from 1 Ciesielska Street to 23 Chrobrego Street. The work was worth approximately PLN 195,000.
