– A tragic road accident occurred last weekend in the centre of Chróstnik (Lubin County). A 63-year-old man riding a Junak moped pulled out from a subordinate road onto municipal road 1235D, failing to yield and driving directly into the path of an oncoming Audi with a trailer, reports Aspirant Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin.
And he adds:
The 23-year-old Audi driver was the first to try to help the injured man. A patrol from the Traffic Division of the Lubin headquarters soon arrived, took over the scene and attempted resuscitation. The emergency medical team also continued resuscitation, but unfortunately the moped rider could not be saved due to the injuries he had sustained.
The prosecutor’s office and police are investigating the case. The Audi driver was sober.
Police:
Everything indicates that the accident was caused by failure to comply with the signs and failure to yield the right of way. We therefore appeal to drivers to exercise caution. Pay attention to road signs and, before entering a main road, look carefully to make sure the way is clear. The important principle of limited trust may save our lives.
