Officers from the Criminal Division of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra arrested two women, aged 26 and 33, as part of an investigation into a series of frauds.
– Police determined that on one of the social media platforms, the women offered services writing master’s theses. However, they failed to fulfill their offers. People interested in the advertisement paid deposits of between PLN 50 and PLN 500 into their account – says junior inspector Wojciech Jabłoński of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
The suspects carried out the criminal scheme from January to December 2019. In this way, they defrauded at least 233 people of a total amount of approximately PLN 60,000. Spokesperson:
Police officers are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case in detail. It is possible that there are more victims.
The women from Jelenia Góra could face prison sentences ranging from six months to as many as eight years.
