The incident occurred on 19 May. Since then, the 48-year-old man suspected of murdering his ex-wife had been hiding from law enforcement authorities. Intensive police work ended on Friday morning, 21 May. “The murderer was arrested in one of the basements in Lubin. As a result of the actions carried out, officers also established where the man had discarded his clothing and the knife with which he attacked the victim,” reports Superintendent Kamil Rynkiewicz of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. “The evidence collected in this case indicates that the perpetrator murdered the woman in cold blood as she was leaving the apartment.
The arrested man confessed to the crime. The spokesperson adds:
For two days, officers worked on the case practically without a break, checking, among other things, every smallest lead that could have contributed to the perpetrator’s arrest. They carried out both operational activities and activities involving uniformed police officers.
The 48-year-old was temporarily detained. He could face life imprisonment.
