For two weeks, teachers have been preparing students from secondary schools in Bolesławiec to return to in-person education. As Katarzyna Zięba, head of the Education, Culture and Sport Department at the Bolesławiec County Office and a mathematics teacher, explains, there is one goal: to help young people who need it and want to catch up on missed material in this way. She adds: “The demand is quite high.”
The classes are not only voluntary but also free of charge. They are to continue until the end of December, including during the holidays. The teachers conduct them as part of their volunteer work.
Students are eager to attend the tutoring sessions because they realize that they did not understand everything well during remote education. As the young people emphasize, it is difficult to properly understand the material and the teacher when all one can see is a computer or laptop screen. In addition, the free classes make it possible to save money on tutoring and prepare better, for example, for the school-leaving exams.
