On Thursday, January 7, the first edition of the Inter-School Economics Competition “I Am Entrepreneurial” was held in the gymnasium of Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych in Bolesławiec. – Schools often organize competitions that test book knowledge, while economics is sometimes treated somewhat neglectfully, says Sebastian Pokładek, a teacher at ZSHiU who organized the event together with teacher Ewa Ostaszewska.
The “I Am Entrepreneurial” competition is intended to teach through play. The students played charades and also had to guess which company used a particular logo. – We want to promote entrepreneurship and improve the standard of teaching this subject, explains Wiesław Stefanik, director of ZSHiU. – We are the only school in Bolesławiec to have received the “School of Entrepreneurship” Quality Certificate. This title entails responsibility.
– It is often the case that schools require students merely to reproduce knowledge. If entrepreneurship teachers do not run and have never run a business, they can pass on only textbook knowledge to their students, says the director. – That is why we also wanted to show entrepreneurship from a different perspective. Our school cares about the student’s comprehensive development.
The competition was inaugurated by Karol Stasik, president of Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec” and head of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Gospodarcze. The participants were assessed by a committee consisting of: Danuta Jurkiewicz, Anita Nakonieczna and Wiesława Gruszecka. Karol Stasik was the honorary chair of the jury.
Four teams took part in the competition. The team from Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych won. The host team came second. The representation of Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych took third place.
Portal IstotneInformacje.pl was the event’s media patron.
