Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec detained a 34-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County suspected of committing two robberies involving extortion. KPP Bolesławiec:
The attacker knew his victims well. The first victim heard threats that violence would be used against him and a demand to hand over money. The suspect held a knife to the second victim’s throat and threatened violence in order to obtain a mobile phone and an ATM card.
The detained 34-year-old had no criminal record in Poland, but he has committed similar offenses abroad.
The police recovered the phone and ATM card and secured the knife used during one of the crimes.
Importantly, several days earlier, officers had detained the same man in connection with making threats against a social worker. The aggressor wanted to force the worker to pay out a benefit.
The court remanded the attacker in custody for three months. The 34-year-old man faces a sentence of one to as many as ten years in prison.
