TOP lost the first set 16–25. The small number of points scored by the players from Bolesławiec does not mean that our volleyball players gave it up without a fight. The hosts’ attacks were received effectively, but once again there was a lack of good setting and effective attacking.
In the second set, TOP rallied, and both teams fought point for point. Only after the 20th point did the players from Szczecin begin to build an advantage. Although they lost the second set 20–25, it was by far the best set played by TOP’s volleyball players.
In the third set, the TOP coach gave all the players a chance to play. The players from Bolesławiec performed worst in this set. They lost it 15–25, and the entire match 0–3, remaining in last place in the league table.
At the hosts’ initiative, TOP’s away match was moved to the morning. To arrive on time, the players from Bolesławiec had to leave as early as 4:00 a.m. As it turned out on site, the later time slot had been reserved for the third-division team. In general, it is the second-division teams that play after lower-league matches.
It is not known whether the early start of the match in Szczecin and the change in the order of the second- and third-division matches were intended in any way to make it more difficult for the players from Bolesławiec to perform. According to unofficial information obtained by Boleslawiec.org, TOP Bolesławiec is considering lodging a protest on the matter.
