The incident occurred on May 4. “A driver of a passenger car called the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja. While driving along the Lower Silesian section of the A4 motorway toward Wrocław, he noticed another driver behaving suspiciously. The car traveling ahead of him suddenly veered onto the shoulder and hit the metal barriers. The driver then continued driving without getting out of the car,” staff sergeant Dominika Kwakszys, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja, reported.

She added:

The reporting driver was alarmed by this behavior. At first, he thought the driver might have felt unwell or had hit the barriers because of fatigue, but it later turned out that there were other reasons for his behavior.

The vigilant driver informed the police of his suspicions. In the meantime, the pirate’s car left the motorway and stopped in one of the towns in Złotoryja County.

There, a 46-year-old resident of Łódź was detained. Staff Sergeant D. Kwakszys said: “The policewomen who arrived at the scene determined that the driver was completely drunk. His speech was slurred and he had trouble standing.”

It turned out that the man had nearly 2.5‰ of alcohol in his exhaled air. The car he was driving was dented and scratched on both sides. What is more, it emerged that the man had been under a court-imposed driving ban for several years. He could now face a prison sentence ranging from three months to as many as five years.

Police:

Thanks to the driver’s vigilance and commendable conduct, another person fond of driving under the influence was prevented from continuing the journey. Proceedings will be conducted in this case.

They added:
