The incident took place on Friday, April 23. Volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
At 12:56 p.m., we were dispatched to a chimney fire involving soot in Gościszów. As standard practice in this type of intervention, we checked the entire building with a multi-gas detector; there was no carbon monoxide hazard, but the residents evacuated the house for safety. Using high-reach equipment and chimney-sweeping equipment, we knocked the burning soot from the chimney walls and then used extinguishing powder and high-pressure water to eliminate the hazard.
They add:
During the operation, using breaching equipment, we had to clean out the chimney to reach all the sources of fire.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Nowogrodziec and Ocice took part in the operation.
