– Police received information about a citizen’s arrest of an intoxicated driver on Szampańska Street in Ziemnice. At the scene, officers established that the 28-year-old, driving a Mercedes-Benz, had been swerving before reversing into an electricity box – reports junior inspector Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.
She adds:
Witnesses who noticed his driving immediately forced him to stop. They then took his keys and notified the police.
As it turned out, they were absolutely right. The Legnica resident had nearly 3‰ of alcohol in his breath. He could now face up to two years in prison.

Their exemplary response and civic-minded attitude may have prevented a tragedy. Let us remember that even an anonymous report made to the emergency number very often contributes to apprehending perpetrators of crimes. Thanks to such an attitude, we can prevent many tragedies on the roads.
