Using this method, perpetrators are attempting to log in to other websites by using data belonging to users of Facebook.
According to the findings, potential victims recently received emails informing them that their accounts needed to be activated. The data was used, among other things, in attempts to activate a streaming service, which could consequently have led to the acquisition of other sensitive data, such as payment card numbers and PESEL numbers.
Officers: – Anyone who receives an email containing an activation link should not take any action. This is an attempt by the perpetrators to take over the account, potentially allowing them to seize our data.
Officers warn and appeal:
- regularly change the passwords used to access our digital resources;
- use two-factor authentication wherever possible.
