– The duty officer at the Zgorzelec police headquarters received a report about the driver of a Peugeot whose manner of driving indicated that the person might be under the influence of alcohol – says Assistant Commissioner Agnieszka Goguł, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. – Police officers from the Zgorzelec SPEED group of the Traffic Division were sent to one of the roads leading into the city.

The officers spotted the described vehicle and activated their lights and siren to stop it. However, the driver did not react and continued driving. Zgorzelec district police officers joined the chase and prevented her from driving any farther on one of the city’s streets.
The fugitive turned out to be a 37-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County. It emerged that she had fled because she was drunk; she had more than 1.5 per mille of alcohol in her system. She could now face a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.
