The incident took place on Easter Sunday. “The 43-year-old from Lwówek County, unsure whether he had sobered up, wanted to check his sobriety using the breathalyser at the police station in Lwówek Śląski. There would be nothing unusual about that, were it not for the fact that he drove to the station,” says Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.

She adds:

The test showed that the 43-year-old was still intoxicated. Since he had driven to the police headquarters, further proceedings involving the man were carried out by Road Traffic officers. When he was tested again, the result was 0.5 per mille in his exhaled breath.

The result? The 43-year-old left the police station without his driving licence. What is more, proceedings are under way against him for driving a vehicle after consuming alcohol. He could face arrest or a fine, as well as a driving ban.

The spokesperson:

This case should serve as a warning: if you are not sure whether you are sober, come to the police station on foot or ask someone to give you a lift.
