On Tuesday, March 30, a press conference was held at the vaccination site at PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Health Minister Adam Niedzielski and Minister Michał Dworczyk. Major changes to the National Vaccination Programme were announced during the conference.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki:
- A target of 10 million vaccinations a month.
- By the end of August, we want to vaccinate everyone who wishes to be vaccinated.
Minister Michał Dworczyk:
- New vaccination sites will be established in the coming quarter. Drive-through vaccination sites will be created.
- Vaccinations will be carried out at workplaces. Vaccination sites will also be available in pharmacies.
- The number of people qualifying patients for vaccination and administering vaccinations will be increased.
- We are introducing mass vaccination. We are abandoning the previous strategy.
More vaccination sites
Until now, vaccinations have been carried out, among other places, in primary healthcare clinics, stationary medical facilities (e.g. outpatient specialist care facilities), reserve and hub hospitals. We have also launched mobile vaccination teams for bedridden patients. In the second quarter, we are expanding the list of places where people can be vaccinated.
Poles will be able to receive the vaccine at:
- primary healthcare clinics (and other stationary medical facilities),
- reserve hospitals,
- county hospitals (one hospital in each county),
- local-government vaccination sites (one site in each county),
- drive-through sites,
- workplaces,
- pharmacies.
Vaccinations will also take place at the premises of independent paramedics and nurses.
More vaccinators and simpler qualification rules
We want to streamline the process further, so we are also introducing organisational changes concerning qualification and the administration of vaccinations.Who qualifies patients for vaccination?
In the second quarter of this year, not only doctors but also dentists, feldshers, nurses, midwives, paramedics, laboratory diagnosticians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, medical assistants and final-year medical students will qualify patients for vaccination.
Who can administer vaccinations?
We are also expanding the team of vaccinators. At present, vaccines are administered by doctors, dentists, midwives, nurses, paramedics and feldshers. In the second quarter of this year, laboratory diagnosticians, pharmacists, physiotherapists and final-year medical students will also join this group.
Attention! The qualification process itself will also change. Until now, patients had to undergo a medical examination and complete a questionnaire.
From the second quarter, qualification for COVID-19 vaccination will be based on a preliminary medical interview questionnaire. If a patient completes the questionnaire and provides all the information correctly, they will be cleared for vaccination. If anything raises doubts in the questionnaire, the person administering the vaccination will consult a doctor.Vaccination registration—what will it look like in April?

People who do not complete the form will be able to register from the day registration opens. Several registration methods are available. You can use the online e-Registration platform, call the 989 helpline, send an SMS reading “Szczepimy Się” to 880 333 333, or register—preferably by phone—directly at a vaccination site.
