Lwóweccy criminal investigators arrested a 35-year-old resident of Złotoryja County who, using false details, posted a matrimonial advertisement on a dating website. – He then maintained contact for some time with a woman from Lwówek County via the Internet and telephone, assuring her that his intentions were sincere – reports Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
The single mother’s trust caused her to lose nearly PLN 2,500. Spokeswoman:
When the perpetrator saw that the woman was ready to move in with him, his attitude toward her changed completely. He began accusing her of persistently harassing him. In exchange for refraining from reporting the alleged crime, he demanded money from the victim, which she sent to him by postal money order.
The officers established his identity and arrested the matrimonial scammer. They also recovered the property lost by the woman. The Złotoryja Tulip could now face a prison sentence of between six months and as many as eight years.
