On Thursday, December 10, Krzysztof Policht, an assistant to the duty officer at the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters, answered a call from a desperate father. The man said that his one-year-old child was not breathing and that he could not get through to the ambulance service.
The police officer instructed the caller to check whether the infant’s airways were clear and whether the child’s pulse could be felt. The officer then ordered the infant’s father to begin artificial respiration.
Following the police officer’s instructions over the phone, the father administered first aid to his son. The child was taken to hospital. The officer’s composure and professionalism helped save the infant’s life.
