The incident occurred in Świeradów-Zdrój. The services received a report concerning the illegal burning of rubbish by an unknown person. The fire brigade extinguished the fire, while police officers went into the area in search of the perpetrator of the offense.

– Near a discount grocery store, they spotted a 42-year-old man well known to them from previous interventions. He was damaging a newspaper box by striking it against the wall of the store, reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Lubań. – During the identity check, the man behaved aggressively, pushed the police officers away and failed to follow their orders. When officers attempted to restrain the aggressor, he grabbed and pulled at one officer’s uniform.

The 42-year-old was therefore subjected to a direct coercive measure: handcuffing. Asp. szt. J. Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń:

Trying to free himself from the handcuffs placed on his hands, the man let his entire body weight fall onto the officer in an attempt to knock him over. The force of the impact was so great that the police officer fell to the ground. As a result, he suffered a broken leg. An ambulance took him to hospital.

The 42-year-old was detained. He will now face charges of causing serious bodily harm to a police officer intervening in the incident. The suspect faces a sentence of between three months and as much as five years in prison.
