On March 10, police officers from Lwówek Śląski conducted operations focused on the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. “Places particularly dangerous for pedestrians were identified through an analysis of hazards. Police officers carried out checks around pedestrian crossings, as well as in places where there is no pavement and the roadside is narrow,” reports Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the Lwówek police station.

In Ubocze, a local man was caught: the 65-year-old driver of a Dacia passenger car was driving at 107 km/h in a built-up area. The resident of Bolesławiec County exceeded the speed limit by more than 57 km/h.

The resident of Jarosław County was driving only slightly slower. In Pasiecznik, he was speeding in a BMW at 105 km/h. The third speeder was caught by police in the same locality. The 43-year-old Opel driver, a resident of Złotoryja County, was driving at 103 km/h.

All three had their driving licences confiscated for three months. The men also received fines and penalty points.

Police remind drivers:

A driver who exceeds the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in a built-up area must expect to have their driving licence confiscated for three months. If that person continues to drive without the required licence, the three-month period will be extended to six months.

It also adds:

If the driver gets behind the wheel despite this, the county governor will issue a decision withdrawing their driving entitlement. To regain it, they will have to meet all the requirements imposed on people applying for a driving licence for the first time.
