A reader informed us about the incident of February 28, 2021, describing what he saw on Sunday around noon. The man did not hide his surprise that an attack had occurred on a new, somewhat prestigious housing estate in Bolesławiec (the estate on Sienkiewicza Street is ultimately supposed to be a gated community).
“Two police cars and an ambulance pulled up in front of the entrance,” the witness reported. “After some time, a man came out of the ambulance with his entire head bandaged; the bandages were soaked with blood, and he walked over to entrance No. 4, which surprised me. I did not know what had happened. I still did not know that someone had injured him in that building. I did not know who this man was,” the witness said.
The police confirmed the incident. “A 41-year-old injured man was taken to hospital,” police officer Anna Kublik-Rościszewska said. “The police are investigating what happened on the estate on Sienkiewicza Street.”
Krzysztof Rutkowski shed more light on the case in an interview with istotne.pl Krzysztof Rutkowski. The former detective, known from the media, revealed that the injured man was a Bolesławiec resident who offered assistance in parental abductions, and who had visited an acquaintance living on the estate. According to Rutkowski, she was the one who attacked the injured man.
This information is also confirmed by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec.
“Sebastian J. was injured,” prosecutor Ewa Łomnicka said. “He suffered bodily injuries and refused to give testimony in the case. On the basis of the evidence we collected, Dorota S. was charged with causing moderate bodily injury under Article 157, paragraph 1. Preventive measures were imposed on her, namely a restraining order prohibiting her from approaching or contacting the injured party in any way. It was an altercation without witnesses. The woman also has an injury to her face, but neither party wanted to describe what happened, so we relied on a medical opinion and the documented injuries,” added the head of the Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office.
As a reminder, in 2019, after being arrested in connection with parental abductions, Sebastian J. was detained and charged with five offenses. Four concerned parental abductions, and one concerned illegal possession of ammunition at home. The man is awaiting trial. The case is dragging on. Presumably, the man, who faces up to 12 years in prison, is free to move around Poland.
What we managed to learn about the further course of Sebastian J.’s case related to the parental abductions is that on January 25, 2021, a decision was issued to refer the case for consideration by the District Court in Chorzów, the Sixth Local Criminal Division seated in Świętochłowice, as the court with subject-matter and territorial jurisdiction.
An appeal was filed against that decision, and on February 24, 2021, the case was referred to the Regional Court for consideration of the appeal.
