At Grunwaldzka Street in Bolesławiec, repairs to the damaged water main have been ongoing since Wednesday. The failure was detected not because water had leaked onto the surface, but thanks to acoustic equipment that detects damage to the water supply network. Earlier, monitoring of the water main indicated high water consumption in this area. As it turned out, this was not increased consumption by residents, but precisely the result of this failure.

The transverse fracture of the cast-iron pipe was caused by the recent frosts and the resulting stresses. During the repair work, it turned out that the failure could not be repaired by installing a so-called clamp. It was necessary to replace 2.5 metres of pipe.

As assured by PWiK Bolesławiec Technical Director Grzegorz Kozłowski, water supplies for nearby residents will be restored this evening (February 25).
