“When officers from the Police Station in Chojnów went to intervene at the home of a 40-year-old man, they did not expect him to launch an active assault against them,” reports asp. Anna Grześków from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. “Seeing the police officers arrive at the scene, the Chojnów resident calmly pulled out a long air rifle loaded with pellet ammunition and fired a shot in their direction.
Fortunately, none of the officers was injured, and the aggressor was subdued and taken to police custody.
It turned out that the detainee had committed more than a dozen offences against life, health and property, including stealing alcohol and a tablet, as well as damaging doors at a hotel and outdoor advertisements at a commercial property. The total losses caused by the 40-year-old’s criminal activity were estimated at more than 5,000 zlotys.
At the request of detectives from Chojnów and the prosecutor’s office in Złotoryja, the man was remanded in custody for three months. He faces between one and as many as ten years in prison.
