– An employee of a grocery discount store notified the police duty officer about a young man’s attempt to pay for goods with a 500-zloty banknote. The cashier was struck by the fact that the banknote dated from 1982 and had been withdrawn from circulation, reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Lubaniu. – Officers of the Prevention and Road Traffic Department of the Lubań police station who arrived at the scene established, while checking the man’s personal details, that he was wanted in connection with suspected attempted burglary of a residential building in Lubań.

The 23-year-old was detained and taken to the police station. Attempted burglary is punishable by between one and as many as ten years in prison.
