As reported by Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec:
[...] so far, we have not received any official results, including from an autopsy.Last Saturday, 4 February 2021, we received information from a hunter about a dead wolf lying 150 metres from national road 94 in the Brzeźnik forest district.
After the location was indicated and a preliminary inspection was carried out, it was determined that this was a traffic accident. It was established that the animal was an approximately four-year-old female, which had probably raised cubs the previous year. The animal’s body had already been partially eaten from the chest side. The death was initially dated to around 20 January 2021.
The photos can be viewed on the Facebook profile of Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec.
The foresters add:
After 4 p.m. that same day, one of the employees went to the site to take detailed photographic documentation, following the instructions of the Association for Nature “Wilk”, in order to submit the information to the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection.
While taking the final photographs, an approximately 2 cm entry wound was discovered in the body, at the level of the left side of the neck. We immediately reported the matter to the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters. Police officers from the district headquarters carried out an on-site inspection at the place where the wolf was found that same day.
The wolf was taken to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Bolesławiec, after which it was to be transported to the University of Environmental and Life Sciences clinic in Wrocław for an autopsy.
They also emphasise:
We hope that the Bolesławiec Police, like investigators from Zamość in the case of Kosey, will manage to find those responsible.
