As the media report, at the beginning of this year Przemysław Czarnek, the minister of education and science in Mateusz Morawiecki's government, met with representatives of the Catholic Education Commission of the Polish Bishops' Conference. Wp.pl:

According to reports from TVN24, after the visit, it could be heard in the corridors that “after more than two decades of efforts, the Church will finally get a religion matura exam.”

Whether this option will actually be available, and when, is not known for now. Wirtualna Polska reports that one supporter of such a solution is the deputy head of the education ministry himself, Tomasz Rzymkowski:

Students can currently take various additional subjects, some of which are not even taught at school, such as art history. After all, an exam in religion would be an exam covering theological knowledge, a field that also exists at the academic level in Poland.

However, the matter is to be consulted with religious associations and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. According to TVN24's calculations, the first graduates could take a religion exam as early as 2024.
