KPP Bolesławiec:
Bolesławiec police officers have been receiving reports from seniors and their families since this morning that someone tried to deceive them and take their money.
Someone called a resident of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality, posing as a police officer and informing the caller that his son had been in an accident and that money was urgently needed. A woman called a resident of Gromadka Municipality, claiming that the senior’s daughter had been in an accident. Once again, money was needed.
A resident of Bolesławiec Municipality received another call of this kind. Again, the senior’s son was supposedly responsible for an accident.
The officers say:
There were several attempted money extortions today alone, so please remind older people about the risks and the absolute ban on handing cash to strangers.
If seniors live nearby, also tell them how scammers operate in order to protect them from losing their life savings.
They also add:
Criminals posing as police officers claim that money is needed. Police officers never act this way. If someone receives such a call, they should immediately report it to the emergency number 112.
