The 23-year-old man is a co-owner of two clothing and sports footwear stores in Bolesławiec. He carried out his scheme from December 2007 to July of this year. He acted as an appraiser under two false names.
To lull customers into a false sense of security, he had stamps made bearing nonexistent names. Using a false identity, he assessed the validity of complaints. He rejected the overwhelming majority of them. Officers estimate that more than 200 people were defrauded.
The suspect has already been charged with document forgery. He faces up to five years in prison.
