On February 2, KPP Bolesławiec reported:

We have been informed that today a man called a senior living in Bolesławiec, introducing himself as EDWARD ZAJĄC, a police officer from the Bolesławiec unit. The scammer, impersonating a police officer, asked his potential victim why he had not reported to the police station — this may have been an attempted scam!!! The sensible senior was not fooled.

As our Reader informed us, a similar situation happened to a female resident of Bolesławiec Municipality today. Fortunately, the vigilant senior was not taken in!

The officers add:

The situations in which we may become victims of criminals can vary. As reports show, scammers call us or enter our homes under various pretexts, for example, asking for water or offering various items for sale at attractive prices; they pose as officials, such as a postman, police officer, ZUS employee, social welfare worker, emergency medical services worker, gas company employee, power company employee or representatives of other institutions.

They also remind us:

DO NOT LET STRANGERS INTO YOUR HOMES!

DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO STRANGERS!

NOT EVERYONE WHO CALLS OR KNOCKS ON OUR DOOR HAS HONEST INTENTIONS!
