As we read on the website of the Centaurus Foundation:

The Animal Farm in Szczedrzykowice, near Legnica, acquired by Centaurus in 2012, is now Europe’s largest horse sanctuary, where around 800 hoofed animals and other creatures are cared for.

These other animals include sheep, goats, dogs, cats, chickens and geese. All of them were rescued through interventions and, thanks to the foundation, received a second chance.

Because of the pandemic, the organization lost many donors, so a campaign unique in Poland, “Painted with Nostrils,” was launched. As part of it, horses—including Sernik and Piernik, two ponies—take on the role of abstract painters. Lured by carrots, the horses create paintings using completely non-toxic, edible paints for children. (The paints were examined by the veterinary inspection and do not harm the animal artists.)

The finished paintings are sold, and the proceeds go toward oats, veterinary treatment and further interventions by the foundation. The horse masters’… carrot-inspired abstractions can be purchased through the Centaurus website. Importantly, buyers can be certain that they are receiving a unique work, as there is no possibility of creating two identical paintings.
