A reader sent us several photos of a four-legged animal, commenting that it looked like a wolf. The photos were taken near the village of Krępnica.

Is it a dog or a wolf? We asked Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec for a comment. The response indicates that the photos show a dog and that this is another inquiry the forestry district has received about the matter.

Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec:

The photo clearly shows a dog. There is some basis for the question of whether it is a wolf: two people have already contacted us at different times about the same animal. Judging by the animal’s condition and the location of the other cases—around Krępnica—I suspect it is a stray dog. It has an owner who does not care what their pet does.

Someone should take an interest in the matter, because unlike wolves, dogs do not fear humans and can be aggressive. In addition, they may scare or even hunt forest wildlife. I will omit the fact that, as can be seen, most people think it is a wolf... Which does not help the wolf itself…
