A resident of Gliwice, whose wife comes from Bolesławiec, wrote to us, so the two of them often visit the City of Ceramics. The Silesian would like to know what happened to Światowid. Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall:
Let me remind you that the monument was dismantled to carry out reconstruction and renovation work. The dismantled object is secured. The monument will be renovated under the supervision of the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec.
Where might the restored monument stand?
A. Gergont: “The placement of the monument among a group of other ceramic sculptures intended for display at or on the grounds of the Museum of Ceramics is currently being considered (in the vicinity of the new headquarters—the park on Zgorzelecka Street). The Pückler Palace, located on Zgorzelecka Street, will be adapted to serve as the new headquarters of the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec. Bolesławiec Municipality has received funding for the project ‘Poland and Norway on the European Ceramics Route: Including Bolesławiec and Porsgrunn in an International Network of Cities with Ceramic Traditions.’ The total project value is PLN 19,994,046.98, and the awarded funding amounts to PLN 15,108,099.97. The complex will become a venue for providing a new cultural and educational offering.
